Course Overview

The course will allow the delegate to perform the following tasks within their organisation.

  • Understand the changes to basic operating systems administration functions, different versions and new functionality.
  • Implement Active Directory on Windows Server 2008 and upgrade from Windows Server 2003.
  • Understand the changes in File, Print and Storage Services. Monitor server performance, reliability and reporting.
  • Manage security with the new remote access facilities and changes to disaster recovery.

  • Administrators that have been managing Windows Server networks on previous versions and wish to update their skills in line with the new functionality in Windows Server 2008 in the areas detailed.
  • Delegates who are preparing for a Windows Server 2008 qualification.

Prerequisites

Delegates should have attended the following courses OR have equivalent knowledge.

  • W2K33ADM Windows Server 2003 Administration
  • W2K34AD SActive Directory Design and Implementation
  • W2K33NET Windows Server 2003 Networking

In addition knowledge from the following course is advantageous

  • W2K33SEC Windows Server 2003 Security

Knowledge of managing Windows desktop operating systems is assumed during this course.
