Cisco Certifications provide learning paths and qualifications for IT professionals working with Routing & Switching, Design, Security, Service Provider, Service Provider Operations, Data Center, Voice, Wireless and Video.

Different levels of Cisco Network Certifications

There are five levels of network certifications. They are Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert and Architect. Architect is the highest level of accreditation within the Cisco Career Certification Program.

  • Entry There are two certifications in this category, CCENT and CCT. Both of these certifications serve as a starting point for those who want to start a career in networking.
  • Associate The associate level certification is considered as the foundation level for network certification. The different programs under this level include CCDA, CCNA collaboration, CCNA Data Center, CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA Security, CCNA Service Provider, CCNA Service Provider Operations, CCNA Video, CCNA Voice and CCNA Wireless.
  • Professional The professional level is an advanced level of certification. Individuals who go for this certification are equipped with more networking skills. Each certification under this level covers a different technology catering to the specific needs of varying jobs. Cisco professional certifications include CCDP, CCNP Collaboration, CCNP Data Center, CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Security, CCNP Service Provider, CCNP Service Provider Operations, CCNP Voice and CCNP Wireless.
  • Expert The expert level certification is again an advance level of certification. The certification programs include CCDE, CCIE Collaboration, CCIE Data Center, CCIE Routing and Switching, CCIE Security, CCIE Service Provider, CCIE Service Provider Operations and CCIE Wireless. These certifications are the most prestigious networking certifications with worldwide acceptance.
  • Architect The architect level is the highest level of certification from Cisco. Individuals with CCAr certification have the expertise to support the increasingly complex networks of global companies, and effectively decode business strategies into evolutionary technical strategies.

CCNA Data Center

CCNA Data Center certification offers professionals job-ready training and skills. The certification lays the foundation for job roles such as a data center network administrator. Candidates gain foundational knowledge in installing, configuring, and maintaining data centers.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for the CCNA Data Center certification.

Recertification

The CCNA Data Center program is an associate-level certification program that is valid for three years. To recertify before the certification expiration date, accomplish one of the following:

Pass any current CCNA Concentration exam (Wireless, or Security, or Voice, Service Provider, or Service Provider Operations,) or

Pass any current 642-XXX professional-level exam, or

Pass any current Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams or MeetingPlace Specialist exams, Implementing Cisco Telepresence Installations (ITI) exams, Cisco Leading Virtual Classroom Instruction exams, or any 650 online exams), or

Pass any current CCIE written exam, or

Pass any current CCIE lab exam, or

Pass the current CCDE written exam, or

Pass the current CCDE practical exam, or

Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.

CCNA Service Provider

Cisco Certified Network Associate - Service Provider (CCNA SP) focuses on the latest in Service Provider industry core networking technologies and trends, and validates the ability to configure and implement baseline Cisco Service Provider Next-Generation networks.

Recertification
The CCNA Service Provider certification is valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following exams before the certification expiration date:

  • Pass the current SPNGN1 exam
  • Pass the current SPNGN2 exam
  • Pass any current CCNA Concentration exam (wireless, or security, or voice, or SP Ops)
  • Pass the current CCDA,
  • Pass any current 642-XXX professional level exam,
  • Pass any current Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams or Meeting Place Specialist exams, Implementing Cisco Telepresence Installations (ITI) exams, Cisco Leading Virtual Classroom Instruction exams, or any 650 online exams),
  • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam,
  • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam
  • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.

CCNA Video

Cisco CCNP Security (Updated)

CCNP Security certification program is aligned specifically to the job role of the Cisco Network Security Engineer responsible for Security in Routers, Switches, Networking devices and appliances, as well as choosing, deploying, supporting and troubleshooting Firewalls, VPNS, and IDS/IPS solutions for their networking environments.

Please note: The CCNP Security has now been refreshed by Cisco. Candidates currently working through their CCNP Security have until April 21st 2014 to complete the existing exams. At this point the existing CCNP Security exams will be retired.

Cisco are allowing candidates to combine both old and new exams (see equivalency table below) as long as all four exams are completed by 21st April 2014.
