Overview

The TOGAF® Standard is the foremost generic framework in the field of IS/IT Architecture. It contains substantial guidance on what to do to establish an architecture practice and then how to use it in connection with planning the longer-term transformation of the enterprise (strategic architecture) and designing capabilities to support it.

This course looks at the Practitioner concepts of the TOGAF® framework. It covers the learning points required to take the TOGAF® Enterprise Architecture Part 2 exam, and during the course delegates will be helped to prepare for this.

An important new feature of this course is the inclusion of the “TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner Learning Studies”. This is a collection of 18 scenario-based questions designed to help learners discuss and apply (in a group context) practitioner concepts. The satisfactory completion of these questions will enable them to earn “The Open Group Certified: Applied TOGAF® Enterprise Architecture Practitioner” Open Badge to reflect their ability to analyze and apply Enterprise Architecture.

Certification

A Combined exam voucher is issued to participants at the end of the course. The best way to think of the combined exam is that it is one exam session with two parts. The Combined candidate sits both parts consecutively, with Level 2 immediately following Level 1. Each part must be passed in order to obtain an overall pass. If you fail one part then no certification is awarded, however you only need retake the failed part. So for example if you fail Level 1, you need only retake the Level 1 exam. But you need to wait at least one month before you are allowed to retake an examination. If an exam is failed it is up to the candidate to purchase another voucher if they wish to have another attempt. Candidates who pass both exams are awarded TOGAF 9 Level 2 certification.

Level 1 (Foundation) Exam

  • Certification is only achieved by passing the examination
  • The exam is in closed-book format, and includes 40 multiple-choice questions
  • The pass score is 55% (22 out of 40 questions)
  • Duration of exam is 60 minutes

Level 2 (Practitioner) Exam

  • The exam is in open-book format
  • Comprises 8 complex multiple-choice scenario-based questions
  • The pass score is 60% (24 out of 40 points)
  • Duration of the exam is 90 minutes

The TOGAF exams are administered by the Open Group at a Pearson Vue test centre.

  • Candidates will receive exam vouchers after the course
  • The exam is taken AFTER the course, at a suitable time
  • The Combined Exam Voucher is valid for 12 months
  • If an exam is failed it is up to the candidate to purchase another voucher if they wish to have another attempt
  • Candidates cannot be awarded the Level 2 Certificate until they have passed both exams
