Exploring Agile Project Management

1 days

This course is designed to enable delegates to explore agile project management from a business perspective and determine whether they have projects that would benefit from this approach.

Agile project management originated in the software industry but is now more widely used. Using an agile project management approach can help project managers respond quickly to constantly changing requirements and deliver benefits to the business earlier and more efficiently, because “tomorrow is too late”!

Over many years the 'traditional' project management approach has been to deliver these business solutions based on high levels of command and control from within projects. This approach can, however, lead to inflexibility and an inability to adapt quickly enough to ever-changing business needs. Using an agile approach can help you to avoid cumbersome development processes affecting your business's competitiveness.

A word of caution: Agile project management isn't suitable for all types of project and isn't a replacement for more traditional approaches to Project Management. It is an alternative approach particularly suited to projects that need to be agile, flexible and to develop business solutions iteratively and incrementally. This one-day course aims to give an overview of agile project management within a business context.

This course is aimed at individuals looking to gain an overview of agile project management and how this approach will be suited to some projects, whilst others will require a more traditional approach. Some exposure of projects and project management will be helpful.
