Overview

Develop the skillsets needed to guide the delivery of value in a Lean Enterprise by becoming a SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM).

During this two-day course, attendees gain an in-depth understanding of how to effectively perform their role in the Agile Release Train (ART) as it delivers value through Planning Intervals (PI).

Attendees explore how to apply Lean thinking to decompose Epics into Features and Stories, refine Features and Stories, manage ART and Team backlogs, and plan and execute Iterations and Planning Intervals.

Attendees also discover how the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps culture contribute to the relentless improvement of the ART.

Where possible, our experienced trainers will take the time to discuss how the SAFe principles and practices could be implemented in your workplace.

To perform the role of a SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager, you should be able to:

  • Articulate the Product Owner and Product Manager roles
  • Connect SAFe Lean-Agile principles and values to the PO/PM roles
  • Decompose Epics into Features and decompose Features into Stories
  • Manage ART and Team backlogs
  • Collaborate with Agile teams in estimating and forecasting work
  • Represent Customer needs in PI Planning
  • Execute the Planning Interval and deliver continuous value

Prerequisites

There are around 3 hours of mostly video-led learning – supported by additional reading – that will be accessed through the SAFe community platform (https://community.scaledagile.com/s/). Thinking about Onsite?

If you need training for 3 or more people, you should ask us about onsite training. Putting aside the obvious location benefit, content can be customised to better meet your business objectives and more can be covered than in a public classroom. Its a cost effective option. One on one training can be delivered too, at reasonable rates.
